Alejandro Valverde è il nuovo campione nazionale spagnolo. Il portacolori della Movistar ha battuto in volata il compagno di fuga Luis Leon Sanchez. Al terzo posto Jesus Herrada, staccato di 16″. Il portacolori della Cofidis era al comando con Valverde e Sanchez, ma ha perso le ruote dei due a 4 km dal traguardo. Il primo gruppo inseguitore é giunto col ritardo di 18″ regolato da Diego Rubio.

Terzo titolo per Valverde – Nella sua Murcia, Valverde veste per la terza volta nella sua carriera la maglia di campione di Spagna, dopo le vittorie nel 2008 e nel 2015 (ha vinto pure un titolo a cronometro nel 2014).
